Galleria

It’s the most cosmopolitan community in all of Houston and one of the largest business districts in the nation.

Welcome to Galleria

Sophisticated to its core, Galleria invites foodies and fashionistas to get a taste of Houston’s most revered commercial offerings.

Sometimes referred to as Uptown, Galleria is a buzzing luxury neighborhood brimming with vitality. It’s the most cosmopolitan community in all of Houston and one of the largest business districts in the nation, known for its fast-paced lifestyle and an endless array of shopping. In fact, more than 700 stores occupy the two-square-mile neighborhood, which is also regarded as the top gastronome destination in the city.

Galleria takes its name from The Galleria Mall, the sprawling retail complex that contains more than 400 stores and restaurants. From its position directly off of I-610 and I-69, Galleria offers the ultimate in convenience, well worth the general busyness of the area. By the 1980s, what began as an isolated community had blossomed into the retail mecca that it is today, already home to more shopping, dining, and office spaces than even the Downtown Houston core.

To keep up with the affluent residents of the neighborhood, the residential real estate of Galleria is replete with luxury. Its lavish, high-rise condos and penthouses are the definition of glamor, often boasting jaw-dropping views of the glimmering Houston skyline. Apart from these opulent apartments and abodes, Galleria — though far from suburban — still offers a solid number of grand single-family homes, though the high demand keeps them from staying long on the market.

What to Love

  • Unparalleled shopping districts and retail offerings
  • Right next to Downtown with a more sophisticated vibe
  • Inspiring high-rise condos and apartments

Local Lifestyle

The residents of Galleria are the type to maintain a constant thrum of activity, always on the go and searching for the next source of entertainment. And, they don’t have to look far. The massive Galleria Mall itself provides everything from high-end designers and chain restaurants to an ice-skating rink and hotels, and the surrounding streets are packed with independent shops, lifestyle services, and venues.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Any visit to Houston is incomplete without a trip to the Galleria Mall, the largest of its kind in Texas and a shopping destination known throughout the nation. Here,brand-hunters can pick up the latest styles from top international names like Versace, Christian Louboutin, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Balenciaga, and countless others.

Uptown Park is an open-air retail paradise containing a diverse set of shops and restaurants, from artisan boutiques to lively pubs and niche specialty shops. It’s the pinnacle of fashion and offers visitors a chance to step into an invigorating blend of Southern charm and metropolitan sophistication.

As though two nationally recognized retail districts weren’t enough, Galleria is also home to Highland Village, one of Houston’s other premier shopping centers. Brands like Apple and lululemon give Highland Village the nostalgic feel of a classic mall, and the on-site Starbucks allows shoppers to grab a superb latte to round out a dreamy day of retail therapy. While Galleria has more restaurants than could ever be named, Morton’s Steakhouse stands out among them as one of Houston’s first steakhouses and a notable meeting place for business tycoons.

Things to Do

Entertainment outside of shopping and dining is also plentiful in Galleria, as evidenced by the presence of high-end performance venues like The Rustic. Part restaurant and part live music hall, The Rustic delights attendees with its full calendar of local and national performers. On the tamer side of entertainment, The Post Oak serves as Houston’s only 5-star hotel and offers incredible services, spa treatments, and luxury experiences.

Despite its urban personality, Galleria is also able to keep outdoor enthusiasts engaged due to its solid number of parks and green spaces. Among them, Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park stands as one of Houston’s most beloved parks, an inspiring collection of nature that includes monolithic oak trees, open space, and of course, the misting waterfall. Family-friendly to the core, Hidalgo Park’s immaculate playground is the perfect place for kids.
